Emerald Highlands' CERT Team

Our team’s purpose is to help our community effectively and efficiently without placing themselves in danger and will only respond when professional emergency services are overwhelmed during a disaster or emergency.

Our team has been trained by professionals from Clallam Co. Fire District #3 to:

Manage utilities, control small fires, restore breathing, stop bleeding, treat shock, provide basic first aid, search, rescue and perform house to house exterior checks to determine status of occupants, organize spontaneous volunteers, and collect disaster data to support professional emergency respond.

During disasters or emergencies, CERT members will not enter homes without permission unless it is believed that the occupants are unable to call for help.

Being prepared is best thing you can do for yourself and the greatest help to our team. Read the Disaster Preparation Handbook and follow the suggestions. Let EH CERT  know of special needs in your home that require special attention in an emergency such as  hearing, visual, mobility challenges or any others. Keep your HELP/OK sign handy.

 EH CERT always needs more volunteers and support. Team members could be injured themselves or out of town. Physical shortcomings should not deter you. Important jobs can be performed that do not require physical exertion. Join the EH CERT or volunteer skills, time, suggestions, donations, supplies or equipment.  All efforts are welcomed, needed and appreciated.

EH CERT also supports and encourages Map Your Neighborhood training; MYN is a 90 minute discussion
which builds and strengthens disaster readiness among neighbors. In MYN sessions neighbors learn the 9
steps to take immediately following disaster, identify areas of mutual concern, develop lists of skills and
equipment and identify those who might require extra help in a crisis.
